Anthem’s Longstanding Partnership with DESE
The Anthem Group is proud of its multi-year partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), serving as a trusted production partner for several of the agency’s most visible statewide initiatives.
The collaboration began in 2020, when Anthem was selected as the agency of record for the Sontag Prize event. Working closely with DESE leadership, the team secured and coordinated premier venues including Harvard Graduate School of Education and The Charles Hotel, while managing all aspects of event execution — from professional development coordination and speaker logistics to the design and production of custom event collateral.
Building on that success, DESE expanded its partnership with Anthem to produce the annual Civics Project Showcases across the Commonwealth. In 2024 and 2025, showcases were held at institutions including Bridgewater State University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, DCU Center, MassMutual Center, and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. Each event welcomed between 200 and 450 students, educators, and advisors, featuring student project exhibitions, advisor training and formal opening and closing ceremonies.
Anthem managed venue outreach and negotiation, catering guidance, layouts, audiovisual production, transportation reimbursements, attendee communications, and all on-site logistics — from registration and staffing to run-of-show and breakdown.
DESE has since extended its contract with Anthem through 2027, with planning already underway for the 2026 Civics Project Showcases. Anthem is honored to support programs that elevate student voice, civic engagement, and educational excellence across Massachusetts.
