Anthem’s Ongoing Partnership with the Massachusetts State Police

Since early 2022, The Anthem Group has partnered with the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) to lead a federally funded initiative focused on strengthening trust between law enforcement, local youth, and youth-serving organizations across the Commonwealth.

The program leverages sports and shared cultural experiences as a foundation for meaningful engagement. Anthem organizes and executes a wide range of athletic programming — including basketball, Jiu Jitsu, and boxing — bringing officers and young participants together in structured, positive environments. The team’s responsibilities are comprehensive, encompassing facility procurement, coach and referee hiring, transportation logistics, scheduling, and on-site coordination to ensure seamless and impactful experiences.

Through this collaboration, Anthem helped expand the existing Unity Basketball League beyond Boston to communities statewide, while also introducing new athletic programs in additional towns and cities. The initiative has created consistent, relationship-driven touchpoints between youth and officers, fostering respect, dialogue, and long-term community connection.

In 2023, the partnership evolved to include broader cultural and educational programming, such as coordinated trips to New York City and visits to historical and civic landmarks. These shared experiences provide opportunities for participants to connect beyond the court or training mat — building understanding and trust that extends back into their neighborhoods.

Anthem looks forward to continuing its work with MSP through 2026 and beyond, supporting a model that prioritizes engagement, mentorship, and community-driven public safety.
